01 May Cymatics 6 – First Review
We are delighted to share that Dave Berriman at The Ear has published the first full review of the Cymatics 6, and his conclusions mean a great deal to everyone involved in building it.
Dave describes the sound as natural, transparent, agile and detailed, handling all kinds of music with aplomb. He praises the spatial abilities, the quality of the treble despite the metal dome tweeter, and the overall neutrality of the design. His measurements backed up what the listening confirmed: frequency response within ±1.5dB from 300Hz to 20kHz, with low distortion and well-suppressed resonances. His verdict: This was not hi-fi, just pure joy.
It is genuinely gratifying to read a review like this, not because every word is positive, but because Dave clearly listened carefully, understood what the speaker was trying to do, and judged it on those terms. The Cymatics 6 was never designed to flatter. It was designed to be honest, raw and enjoyable.
A significant amount of care and thought went into every aspect of this speaker, from the drive unit design, to the solid aluminium waveguide, the cabinet bracing and the crossover topology. None of those decisions were shortcuts. It is satisfying to see that come through in an independent assessment.
